Ray Allen Thanks Boston Fans in Newspaper Ad

Boston Celtics/NBA(NEW YORK) -- There has been a bit of bitterness around Boston towards guard Ray Allen and his signing with the rival Miami Heat, but that didn't stop Allen from taking out a full page ad in the Boston Globe to thank the Boston fans.

"For the past five years, my family and I took great pride in calling Boston home," Allen said in the ad. "We have loved living in this city, being members of the Celtics family and being part of your community. These memories will be cherished forever."

"From my heart, THANK YOU Boston for this incredible journey," the ad concluded.

The NBA's all-time 3-point leader signed a three-year deal with the Heat for half the annual salary the Celtics offered. League sources say Allen was frustrated with the trade talks he was mentioned in last season and that he and point guard Rajon Rondo weren't getting along.
