RB Stevan Ridley Signs with Jets

Doug Pensinger/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Running back Stevan Ridley has left the New England Patriots and signed with their rival, the New York Jets.

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, it's a one-year deal.

The 26-year-old Ridley ran for 340 yards in six games for the Patriots last year before tearing his ACL and MCL, officially ending his season.

Since being drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Patriots, Ridley has rushed for 2,817 yards and 22 touchdowns. His best season was in 2012, when he ran for 1,263 yards and 12 scores.

While in New England, Ridley was known as a between-the-tackles runner who often had trouble holding onto the ball.

Ridley also met with the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins.

The 5-foot-11, 220-pound Ridley joins a Jets backfield that includes Bilal Powell and bruiser Chris Ivory.
