RB Steven Jackson Agrees To 3-Year Deal With Atlanta Falcons

NFL via Getty Images(ATLANTA) -- The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a three-year contract with free agent running back Steven Jackson on Thursday. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The 29-year-old Jackson will replace Michael Turner as the starting running back, after the Falcons cut Turner loose before the start of free agency.

Jackson was originally drafted out of Oregon State by the Rams with the 24th overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft. In nine seasons with the Rams, Jackson rushed for 10,135 yards and 56 touchdowns on 2,395 carries. He also has 407 receptions for 3,324 yards and eight touchdowns.

Last year, the three-time Pro Bowler topped the 1,000-yard mark for the eighth consecutive season.
