(DETROIT) -- Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard will miss at least a week after re-injuring his left knee in Monday's loss to St. Louis.
Howard missed eight games in December when he sprained the MCL in the same knee.
“It is frustrating,” Howard said. “You’re moving in the right direction, you feel you’re doing all the right things and we were doing all the right things. It’s just bad luck, I guess.”
Howard will be replaced in net by Jonas Gustavsson, who says he has completely healed from a groin injury that sidelined him the last nine games.
Gustavsson has played well when called upon this season. He has an 11-3-2 record with a 2.39 goals-against average and a 9.14 winning percentage.
Detroit (21-18-10, 52pts) is currently in a fight for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
