Redskins' Brandon Meriweather Vows to Go After Player's Knees

NFL Shield(ASHBURN, Va.) -- After getting suspended for his latest helmet-to-helmet hit, Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather has come out and declared that he will now be forced to go after a player's knees.

Meriweather has been fined numerous times during his career for helmet-to-helmet hits, and after two more incidents on Oct. 20 against the Chicago Bears, the NFL suspended Meriweather for two games.

He appealed his suspension to be reduced to one game, but he's sending a message to the NFL now that he won't go after player's heads.

"I guess I just got to take player's knees out," Meriweather said. "That's the only way. I would hate to end a guy's career over a rule, but I guess it's better other people than me getting suspended for longer."

"You just to go low man, man," Meriweather added. "You've got to end people's careers. You got to tear people's ACLs and mess up people's knees. You can't hit them high anymore."

The NFL has been cracking down on helmet-to-helmet hits, and Meriweather has been one of the biggest culprits in the NFL since entering the league in 2007.
