Report: Lakers Retain Mike D'Antoni for Next Season

Stephen Dunn/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The Los Angeles Lakers will retain head coach Mike D'Antoni for next season, the Orange County Register reported on Friday.

D'Antoni coached the Lakers to a 27-55 record this season, which was the worst regular season record in franchise history.

All-Star's Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash missed a considerable amount of time this season.  Bryant was sidelined after fracturing the lateral tibial plateau in his left knee on Dec. 17, in a game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

D'Antoni has asked the team to pick up the $4 million team option for the 2015-16 season, reports

D'Antoni has a 67-87 record since being hired by the Lakers early in the 2012-13 season and is owed $4 million next season.
