Report: Marlins Agree To Contract With OF Juan Pierre
Rich Pilling/MLB Photos via Getty Images(MIAMI) -- The Miami Marlins have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent outfielder Juan Pierre, worth $1.6 million, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
It will be Pierre’s second stint with the Marlins. He previously played in South Florida from 2003-05, setting a franchise single-season stolen base record of 65 in ’03. That same year, he helped the Marlins capture their second World Series title with a six-game victory over the New York Yankees.
The 35-year-old Pierre played with the Philadelphia Phillies last season, batting .307 with 37 stolen bases in 130 games.
