Report: Napoli and Rangers Agree to New Deal

Ron Vesely/MLB Photos via Getty Images(ARLINGTON, Texas) -- The Texas Rangers and catcher Mike Napoli have avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one year-contract worth $9.4 million, according to The deal represents a raise of $3.6 million for the 30-year-old.

In his first season with the Rangers in 2011, Napoli had a breakout campaign, batting .320 with 30 home runs and 75 RBIs in 113 games, as Texas claimed its second consecutive American League pennant.

The Rangers acquired Napoli in the off-season last winter from the Toronto Blue Jays for reliever Frank Francisco. He spent his first five seasons with the Los Angeles Angels.
