(WASHINGTON) -- The NFC East has not yet been decided.
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III threw for a late touchdown to defeat the New York Giants 17-16 on Monday night at FedEx Field.
With the the win, the Redskins (6-6) are now just a game behind New York (7-5) for the division lead. "We know that our backs are against the wall," Griffin said. "And even though we won tonight, our backs are still against the wall."
After a first quarter Giants field goal, Washington was driving in New York territory when Griffin scrambled to his left and lost the football. However, it popped right into the hands of teammate Joshua Morgan, who ran it in for a touchdown.
Griffin connected with Pierre Garcon in the fourth quarter for an eight yard touchdown to put the Redskins ahead. He also rushed for 72 yards, breaking the NFL record for rookie quarterback rushing yards in a season.
