Ruutu And Hurricanes Agree To Contract Extension

Carolina Hurricanes/NHL(RALEIGH, N.C.) -- Carolina Hurricanes forward Tuomo Ruutu has agreed to a four-year, $19 million contract extension with the club.

Under the new deal, which runs through the 2015-16 season, the 29-year-old Ruutu will earn $4 million next year and $5 million the following three seasons.

Ruutu has 17 goals and 13 assists on the season. The Hurricanes acquired the former first-round pick from the Chicago Blackhawks on February 26th, 2008, in exchange for Andrew Ladd.
