Saints Breeze by Cowboys, 49-17

Chris Graythen/Getty Images(NEW ORLEANS) -- The New Orleans Saints had an NFL record 40 first downs, and the team accumulated a franchise-record 625 total yards as the Saints destroyed the Dallas Cowboys, 49-17 Sunday.

The Saints (7-2) had 242 rushing yards, the most the team has had in a game since 1990, with Mark Ingram leading the way with 145 yards on 14 carries.

"It was a point of emphasis," Saints head coach Sean Payton said of establishing the run game. "I thought our guys handled it well up front. You don't know in the game if it's gonna be something that is to your advantage to do [but] I thought we got into a pretty good tempo."

The Saints' passing offense was pretty good as well. Quarterback Drew Brees at one point completed 19 straight passes and finished the day 34-of-41, for 392 yards and four touchdowns.

As for Dallas (5-5), it couldn't muster up much of anything offensively. The Cowboys had 193 total yards and quarterback Tony Romo only completed 10 passes in the loss.

The win keeps New Orleans atop the NFC South while Dallas is tied with Philadelphia atop the NFC East.
