Seahawks Sign DE Michael Bennett

Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The Seattle Seahawks and defensive end Michael Bennett have agreed to terms on a one-year, $5 million deal on Thursday, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Coming along with Bennett to Seattle will be defensive end Cliff Avril, who the Seahawks officially signed on Thursday.

Bennett had a career high nine sacks last season with the Buccaneers and started all 16 games for the first time in his career.  Avril had 39.5 sacks the past five seasons with the Detroit Lions and 9.5 in 2012.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll stressed the importance of getting more pass rushers following their loss in the divisional round to the Atlanta Falcons. "I don't feel like you can have enough speed pass rushers on your club," Carroll said during a conference call on Thursday.
