Serena Williams Eliminated from French Open

ADRIAN DENNIS/AFP/Getty Images(PARIS) -- The defending French Open champion is out.  Serena Williams fell to Garbine Muguruza in straight sets Wednesday, 6-2, 6-2.

Williams never lost fewer than five games in a loss, but will watch the rest of the tournament with her sister, Venus, who was also knocked out by Anna Schmiedova on Wednesday.

"I just can't serve," Serena said.  "My serve hasn't been good yet."

This is Serena's earliest exit at a major tournament since falling in the first round at Roland Garros two years ago.

"It was one of those days, you can't be on every day," Serena said.  "I hate to be off during a Grand Slam, but it happens, it's not the end of the world."

Williams is 24-4 this year and has not gotten past the fourth round of a Grand Slam.
