Source: Yankees Trade Top Prospect Montero for Pineda

Major League Baseball(NEW YORK) -- The New York Yankees traded star catching prospect Jesus Montero to the Seattle Mariners for their star pitching youngster, Michael Pineda, that according to a source of ESPN's Jason Stark.

Both players are considered two of the best, young, up-and-comers in baseball. Through 171 innings, Pineda had an ERA of 3.74 and held opponents to a .211 batting average, for the Mariners last season.

Montero didn't get quite as much experience as Pineda, through 18 games in the majors last season, Montero hit .328 with 4 home runs and 28 RBIs.

This is the second time the Yankees tried trading Montero to Seattle. In 2010, the Yanks were offering Montero in a deal to acquire pitching ace Cliff Lee.

The deal also sent right hander Hector Noesi to the Mariners and righty Jose Campos to New York.
