South Carolina Defensive End Jadeveon Clowney Feeling Confident

Al Messerschmidt/Getty Images(HOOVER, Ala.) -- All eyes will be on South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney this season and his quest for the Heisman Trophy. And Clowney is feeling as confident as ever heading into the 2013 season.

Many felt that if Clowney were eligible for this past year's NFL Draft, he would have been the number one pick. He finished the 2012 season with 54 tackles and 13 sacks.

Clowney is so confident about his 2013 prospects, that he says quarterbacks like Clemson's Tajh Boyd are afraid to play against him.

"I can tell Tajh Boyd is scared back there," Clowney said. "He ain't no sitting duck but you can see in his eyes that he's scared of our D-lineman."

"You can look at a guy and tell he's scared," Clowney added. "If he's staring at me before the ball is snapped and he's staring at me every play before that ball is snapped, oh we got him. I tell the player's that he's shook."

In South Carolina's regular-season finale against Clemson last season, Clowney had 4.5 sacks and Boyd also tossed two interceptions.

The last defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy was Charles Woodson in 1997.
