Steelers Match Patriots' Offer, Keep WR Sanders

Justin K. Aller/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Emmanuel Sanders will call Pittsburgh home for at least one more season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers matched the New England Patriots' one-year $2.5 million offer sheet to Sanders, the team announced Sunday.

The Steelers had until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday night to match the offer or risk losing the 26-year-old Sanders to a conference rival.  If they were to let Sanders sign with New England, they would have received a third-round compensatory pick in this year's NFL draft.

Sanders caught a career-high 44 passes in 2012 and will look to increase that production while replacing the departed Mike Wallace in the starting lineup.  He will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013 season.
