Alex Rodriguez Cleared For Baseball Activities

Rob Tringali/MLB Photos via Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez will return to the diamond at the team’s spring training complex on Monday, as he rehabs from off-season hip surgery.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says the 37-year-old Rodriguez has been cleared to resume baseball activities and is expected to return to the lineup sometime around the All-Star break.

In other Pinstripe news, reliever Joba Chamberlain has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 28, with a strained oblique on his right side.

Yankees Place Kevin Youkilis on DL

Robert Rogers/MLB Photos via Getty Images(NEW YORK) --  Add Kevin Youkilis to the list of injured Yankees. The New York baseball club placed Youkilis on the disabled list because of a lumbar spine sprain, the team announced Tuesday.

Youkilis had missed eight of the past nine games because of what was described as a stiff back by Yankees manager Joe Girardi.  He played in last Saturday's game against Toronto, which cost the team the chance to back-date his stint on the DL.

Now Youkilis won't be eligible to return to action until mid-May at the earliest.

The 34-year-old Youkilis is hitting .266 with two home-runs and seven RBIs.  He will be replaced at third base by Jayson Nix.

Aside from Youkilis, the long list of players on the disabled list for the Yankees are captain Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, Curtis Granderson, Alex Rodriguez, Ivan Nova, Francisco Cervelli and Michael Pineda.

Mark Teixeira Out 8-10 Weeks with Wrist Injury

Robert Rogers/MLB Photos via Getty Images(NEW YORK) --  Injuries keep piling on for the New York Yankees.

Less than two weeks after losing center fielder Curtis Granderson to a broken forearm, the team announced that first baseman Mark Teixeira will miss eight to 10 weeks with a strained right wrist.

The 32-year-old Teixeira strained his wrist while taking batting practice with the United States' World Baseball Classic team in Arizona.

It was originally estimated that Teixeira would only miss two weeks, but an update Wednesday indicated that he will be sidelined until at least the middle of May.

Options at first base for the Yankees include Dan Johnson, Juan Rivera, and Kevin Youkilis.  Youkilis was originally signed to replace Alex Rodriguez at third base, but could see some action across the diamond.

Yankees' Joe Girardi Talks About the A-Rod Situation

Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- New York Yankees' manager Joe Girardi said he's talked to Alex Rodriguez regarding the hormone allegations and his main concern is his health.

Girardi met with reporters on Tuesday to talk about the state of the team and his stance on Alex Rodriguez. A recent report by The Miami New Times linked A-Rod, along with several other Major Leaguers, with a now closed anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables that distributed human growth hormones.

"There's really not a lot to talk about," Girardi said. "I've had my discussions with Alex and I've talked about his rehab and how he's doing. He's making progress there. MLB has to go through it's steps before any of us are really going to be aware of anything. My concern is getting him healthy."

Rodriguez is recovering from offseason hip surgery, and might not even play the entire 2013 season.

The Yankees still owe the 37-year-old Rodriguez over $114 million over the next five years.

Hal Steinbrenner Concerned About A-Rod

DON EMMERT/AFP/Getty Images(TAMPA, Fla.) -- Count New York Yankees general managing partner Hal Steinbrenner as among those concerned about third baseman Alex Rodriguez.

Among reports of Rodriguez's continuing performance enhancing drug use, Steinbrenner voiced his worries and said the situtation is "a concern, but it's out of our hands."

The Miami New Times reported last month that Rodriguez bought human growth hormone in the last couple of years from a now-closed clinic in Miami called Biogenesis of America LLC.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez will be out of action for the first half of the season while recovering from hip surgery. The Yankees signed former Red Sox Kevin Youkilis to help fill the void, and Steinbrenner is optismistic he can help out.

"I've always liked Kevin," Steinbrenner said. "He always seemed like a good leader, a hard worker and a very enthusiastic -- loves the game -- kind of guy. And that's the kind of guy we want."

Miami: Our Drug Policy Is Tough; No Positive Steroid Tests for Players

Joel Auerbach/Getty Images(CORAL GABLES, Fla.) -- The University of Miami released a statement Thursday in the wake of a Miami New Times report that links Miami Hurricanes trustee Alex Rodriguez with a group of baseball players listed in records of a defunct Florida anti-aging clinic that is alleged to have sold PEDs.

"The University of Miami's drug-testing policy is consistent with those at most NCAA Division I programs and provides more stringent penalties -- including game suspensions for first-time positive results -- than many of our peers," the university said.

Miami officials said that none of the past 10,000 drug tests performed on student-athletes at Miami has shown a positive result for PEDs.  Approximately 3,380 student-athletes have been tested since 2005, according to the university’s release.

"The University of Miami's comprehensive drug testing policy, enacted in 1995, continues to evolve as the methods and reliability of testing have improved and as more drugs have been introduced into the world of competitive sports," the statement continued.

Rodriguez’s name is on the Miami baseball stadium, after he pledged $3.9 million to a rebuild the structure years ago.

Report: Ryan Braun's Name Listed In Miami Clinic Records

Robert Binder/MLB Photos via Getty Images(MILWAUKEE) -- Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun’s name appears in three of the Biogenesis clinic records, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The clinic has been alleged to have distributed performance-enhancing drugs to several Major League Baseball players, including New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, according to an article in the Miami New Times last week.

The records obtained by Yahoo! Sports shows Braun’s name comes up three different times, but there is no specific PED listed next to his name.

Braun released a statement late Tuesday night.

“During the course of preparing for my successful appeal last year, my attorneys, who were previously familiar with Tony Bosch, used him as a consultant. More specifically, he answered questions about T/E ratio and possibilities of tampering with samples,” Braun said. “There was a dispute over compensation for Bosch's work, which is why my lawyer and I are listed under 'moneys owed' and not on any other list. I have nothing to hide and have never had any other relationship with Bosch. I will fully cooperate with any inquiry into this matter.”

MLB says they will investigate the alleged link to the 2011 National League Most Valuable Player.

The 29-year-old Braun was suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball for testing positive for illegal synthetic testosterone during the 2011 postseason. That banned was later overturned after the handling of the sample was called into question.

Yankees' Derek Jeter Won't Speak on Alex Rodriguez Doping Allegations

Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images(TAMPA, Fla.) -- With the latest drama to surround Alex Rodriguez surrounding the New York Yankees, shortstop Derek Jeter defended his teammate.

Last week, A-Rod's name popped up in a report by The Miami New Times. The paper reported that Rodriguez, along with several other Major Leaguers, obtained human growth hormones and other PED's from a now-closed anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables.

With the Yankees getting ready to report to spring training in the upcoming weeks, Jeter told reporters that he's withholding his statement until Rodriguez addresses the allegations.

"I don't comment on anyone until they speak first," Jeter said. "Let him address his situation before I comment on it. Let him speak first and then we'll talk about that."

Rodriguez, who has been with the Yankees since 2004, has won two MVP Awards since then. Still, he has had trouble staying on the field in recent years. Over the past five years, Rodriguez has missed at least 24 games per season.

Sources: Bosch Injected A-Rod With PED's

Rob Tringali/MLB Photos via Getty Images(MIAMI) -- According to sources, Anthony Bosch injected New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez with performance-enhancing-drugs every few weeks at his Miami mansion.

Bosch is the owner and operator of a Miami clinic which allegedly supplied PED's to MLB stars including Rodriguez, Gio Gonzalez, Melky Cabrera, and Nelson Cruz.

Those same sources told ESPN's "Outside The Lines" that while other athletes relied on intermediaries to transport the PED's provided by Bosch, Rodriguez' always received personal treatment.

Major League Baseball is currently investigating the clinic as the center of a widespread doping operation in South Florida, where players used testosterone and human growth hormone to enhance their play.

Sources also said said Bosch spoke openly about his relationship with Rodriguez, and that they reviewed documents detailing the drug regimens and schedules Rodriguez received.

A spokesperson for Rodriguez on Friday said "the allegations are not true."

Report: A-Rod, Others On Miami PED List

Major League Baseball (NEW YORK) --  According to a report by the Miami New Times, records from an anti-aging clinic in Miami list the names of prominent Major League Baseball players and detail performance-enhancing drugs allegedly adminstered to them.

The names on the list include New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, who has been tied to PEDs before.  Also on the list are Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera, Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz and Nationals hurler Gio Gonzalez, among many others.

The Miami New Times received the list of names from an employee who worked at Biogenesis of America before it closed last month.  They reported that records show that the firm sold PEDs, including anabolic steroids, testesterone, and human growth hormone (HGH).

Anthony Bosch, the head of this clinic, had been previously linked to Manny Ramirez in 2009, when the latter was suspended 50 games by MLB for violating its drug policy.
