Orioles Top White Sox with No Fans in Attendance

iStock/Thinkstock(BALTIMORE) -- In what was believed to be the first major league game played without fans in attendance, Chris Davis hit a three-run homer in a six-run first inning Wednesday as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Chicago White Sox, 8-2.

The gates at Camden Yards were locked because of concern for fan safety following recent rioting in Baltimore.

Both teams lined up for the national anthem, music played in between innings and the seventh-inning stretch was noted with the traditional John Denver song.

The Orioles and White Sox played their game in two hours and three minutes. Baltimore won its third straight game.

Red Sox Beat Orioles on Patriots' Day, 7-1

iStock/Thinkstock(BOSTON) -- The Orioles allowed five unearned runs as the Boston Red Sox (8-5) beat Baltimore (7-6) 7-1 on Patriots’ Day. The game was called after 6 1/2 innings because of rain.

With the score tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning, Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts scored the go-ahead run on a fielding error from Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen (0-1). Boston would proceed to tack on three more runs in the inning -- all unearned.

Chen gave up three hits and five walks while striking out three across 4 1-3 innings of work.

Starting pitcher Justin Masterson (2-0) took the mound for Boston and allowed three hits, a walk and one earned run while striking out six in five innings.

Mookie Betts swiped his fourth base of the season in the first inning.

Orioles Second Baseman Jonathan Schoop Out Indefinitely with Knee Injury

Baltimore Orioles/MLB(NEW YORK) -- After establishing himself as an everyday player, Baltimore Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop will be out indefinitely after suffering a right PCL injury (a Grade 1 tear) and an MCL sprain.

Schoop suffered the injury after he was taken out on a slide by Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval over the weekend.

“Yeah, it was on first base,” Schoop told the Baltimore Sun. “When I stood up, I felt it a little bit. But I was able to finish the game. On the last play, I was running a little bit and I felt my legs burning. When I came in it was swollen. …It was swollen a little bit, but I thought ice and treatment would make it better.

“It's really disappointing you want to be there for the team, for myself,” Schoop added. “So far, I was having really good at-bats. It's really disappointing, but there's nothing I can do.”

In his second full season with the Orioles, Schoop was batting .259 with three home runs and seven RBIs.

Orioles Place Four Players on the DL to Start the Season

Baltimore Orioles/MLB(ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.) -- The injuries are piling up for the Baltimore Orioles, and the season hasn't even started yet. The team announced that catcher Matt Wieters, shortstop J.J. Hardy, outfielder David Lough and infielder/outfielder Jimmy Paredes will all open the season on the 15-day disabled list.

Hardy, Lough and Wieters' moves are retroactive to March 27. Paredes is retroactive to April 1.

Wieters starting the season on the DL is the least surprising, as he is still recovering from Tommy John surgery he underwent last June, and the team wasn't counting on him being ready to start the season healthy.

Hardy is dealing with a strained shoulder, Lough is battling a hamstring issue, and Paredes is dealing with a back strain.
