New York Jets Awarded WR Edwards Off Waivers

David Banks/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The New York Jets were awarded wide receiver Braylon Edwards off of waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday. This will be Edwards’ second stint with Gang Green, having played with them from 2009-10.

“It feels great to be going home,” Edwards tweeted. “Thanks to all of Jet nation that continuously supported me and pushed for me. I'm back and it's go time.”

Last week, the 29-year-old Edwards ripped the Jets front office for the way they handle the benching of starting quarterback Mark Sanchez during their victory over the Arizona Cardinals. He tweeted, “Don’t blame Sanchez, I played there. Blame the idiots calling shots. Mark is a beast and will prove it when given a proper chance.”

In 109 career games, Edwards has 349 receptions, 5,397 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Seahawks Stun Patriots 24-23

Stephen Brashear/Getty Images(SEATTLE) --Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson found Sidney Rice for a 46-yard touchdown with 1:18 remaining, and the Seattle Seahawks came back to stun the New England Patriots 24-23.

The Patriots (3-3) had a 23-10 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Wilson threw two touchdown passes to Braylon Edwards and Rice to give the Seahawks (4-2) the victory.

The matchup between the Patriots' No. 1 ranked offense and Seattle's No. 1 defense instead turned in to a stunning performance by Wilson and a shocking loss for the Pats.

Wilson was 16 of 27 for 293 yards and three touchdowns, the best performance of his short NFL career.

Tom Brady passed for 395 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions against a pesky Seahawks defense.

He had a chance to win the game with a field goal or touchdown, but the Seahawks' defense stopped them in the final minute of the game for another impressive victory.

It was another thrilling victory for the Seahawks, who have also defeated the Packers, Cowboys, and Panthers this season.

Terrell Owens Signs With Seahawks

Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images(SEATTLE) -- The Seattle Seahawks signed wide receiver Terrell Owens on Monday after the free agent worked out for them, ESPN's Ed Werder reports.

The deal is for one year and $1 million.

Owens impressed Seahawks brass during the workout by running the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds.

The 38-year-old Owens has not played in the NFL since 2010, when he played for the Cincinnati Bengals.  He did not get any looks from teams in 2011 because he was recovering from surgery on his left knee.

The Seahawks, looking for depth in their receiving corps, also signed veteran receivers Braylon Edwards and Antonio Bryant.

Owens played for the Allen Wranglers Indoor Football League team during the 2011 season and had 35 catches for 420 yards and 10 touchdowns in eight games.

In 15 NFL seasons Owens has caught 1,078 passes for 15,934 yards and 153 TDs.

Braylon Edwards Signs with Seattle Seahawks

Patrick Smith/Getty Images(SEATTLE) -- Braylon Edwards has signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The 29-year-old Edwards stands at 6'3" and could give the Seahawks a big-play threat if healthy.

He tried out for the Seahawks and Miami Dolphins before ultimately inking a one-year contract with Seattle.

The Seahawks are looking for a No.2 receiver to start opposite Doug Baldwin.  Sidney Rice and Golden Tate are also in contention to start for head coach Pete Carroll.

Edwards began his career with the Cleveland Browns but also played for the New York Jets and most recently, the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers released Edwards in December 2011 after he struggled to recover from knee and shoulder injuries.

Terrell Owens Wants Back on the 49ers

MONICA M. DAVEY/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The San Francisco 49ers recently placed wide receiver Braylon Edwards on waivers, ending his brief stint with the team. Since the team has an open spot for a wide receiver now, one of the greatest 49ers wide receivers of all time would like a reunion. No, not Jerry Rice -- Terrell Owens.

Owens spent his first eight seasons with the team, but his tenure ended rather tumultuously, to put it nicely. Even though its been nearly eight years since he put on a 49ers uniform, Owens wouldn't mind a putting on a 49ers uniform one more time.

"Let em kno if they need me, I'm ready homie!! I'm ready to take em deep!!" Owens said in a tweet directed towards 49ers safety Donte Whitner, who played with Owens in Buffalo.

Whitner responded to Owens, saying he would vouch that Owens was a great teammate in Buffalo. Owens has yet to play for anyone this season after suffering a torn ACL during the summer. The 38-year old seems to have no plans on retiring yet.

"I wish the 49ers organization the best of luck during the Playoffs. I will be working hard this off season to strengthen my knee and prepare for the 2012 season. Thanks for your continued support and for being such loyal fans."
