Restricted Free Agent Mirza Teletovic Hopes to Stay with the Nets

Brian A. Westerholt/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- After remarkable comeback last season from a blood clot in his lungs this past season, forward Mirza Teletovic wishes to remain with the Nets going forward.

A restricted free agent at the end of the season, Teletovic's status going forward is unknown.

Back in January he was diagnosed with blood clots, and his career was in doubt. He wound up making his return to the court during the team's opening round playoff loss against the Atlanta Hawks.

“I like Brooklyn, people are great, I know the team and everyone, especially doctors, treated me great when all that happened," Teletovic said, via Nets Daily. "I really would like to stay in Brooklyn,” he said referring to the multiple blood clots found in his lungs in January. “I know my team-mates and everything is really great. I do not know what will be, but I’ll know more in June when free agent market starts.”

Primarily a bench player during his three-year career, Teletovic has proven he can be a solid contriubtor to a team as he's a career .362% shooter from the 3-point line.

Nets' Hollins: Deron Williams Not a Franchise Player Anymore

Bruce Bennett/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- A day after the Atlanta Hawks eliminated the Brooklyn Nets from the playoffs, Brooklyn Head Coach Lionel Hollins had some strong words for his point guard, stating that Deron Williams is no longer a franchise player.

"He's not a franchise player anymore," Hollins said on Saturday. "He's a good player, he's a solid player, but I don't think he's a franchise player anymore. That's just my opinion. He's a good player. I'm proud of the way he's bounced back and played, and there's so much pressure on him to be a franchise player, and everybody talks about a franchise player, but we need to have a franchise team."

In 2010, general managers across the league voted Deron Williams as the best point guard in the NBA.

Williams did not address the media on Saturday. He is owed $21 million next season and $22.3 million in 2016-17, assuming he does not opt out of the final year of his contract.

Nets Catch Hawks, Cut Series Deficit to 2-1

Bruce Bennett/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- After losing six times to the Atlanta Hawks this season the Brooklyn Nets finally won a game.

Brook Lopez had 23 points and 13 boards to lead the Nets to a 91-83 victory over the Hawks Saturday, in Game 3 of their first round playoff series.

Brooklyn, which lost all four games it played against Atlanta in the regular season, trailed by four with 2:39 remaining in third quarter before going on an 18-0 run. The Nets never trailed from there as they win to cut the best-of-seven series deficit to 2-1.

"I think they're a confident group, just like we are. It's the playoffs," Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer said. "I think they've played well really for stretches from the beginning and it's going to be a series."

After scoring only two points in Game 2, Thaddeus Young bounced back with 18 points and 11 boards in the win.

"No matter what or how I felt about Game 2, I knew I had to come back and bounce back in Game 3 for us to get a win," Young said.

DeMarre Carroll scored a playoff career-high 22 points in the loss.

The eighth-seeded Nets will try to even the series in Brooklyn on Monday.

Nets Take Final Playoff Spot as Pacers Flop

Bruce Bennett/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- On the final night of the NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets found out if they would be heading home or extending their season.

Brooklyn defeated Orlando 101-88 thanks to the strong shooting of rookie point guard Bojan Bogdanovich, who dropped a career high 28 points.

The Nets faltered down the stretch, dropping two in a row, which allowed the Indiana Pacers to re-enter the playoff picture.

Brooklyn was forced to watch their televisions to find out later in the evening that the Pacers would fall to the Memphis Grizzlies 95-83.

"If you get in, it's a whole new season," said Nets guard Joe Johnson. "Everybody is 0-0 and then you wipe your hands clean and then you give it another go."

The Nets will face Johnson's previous team, the top seeded Atlanta Hawks on April 19.

Bucks Destroy Nets, Clinch Playoff Berth

Mike McGinnis/Getty Images(MILWAUKEE) -- The Milwaukee Bucks destroyed the Brooklyn Nets 96-73 on Sunday, to clinch the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

The playoff berth is just another feather in the cap for a team that lost a franchise-worst 67 games last season.

Ersan Ilyasova scored 21 points in the victory as the Bucks (40-40) become the first team since the 2008-09 Miami Heat to make the playoffs a year removed from having the NBA's worst record.

Bucks head coach Jason Kidd becomes the first person in NBA history to go to the playoffs with two different teams in his first two seasons as a head coach.

Despite the loss, the Nets (37-43) still currently hold the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with two games to play.
