Kasey Kahne wins Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire

Todd Warshaw/Getty Images(LOUDON, N.H.) -- Kasey Kahne won his second Sprint Cup race of the season after he beat out Denny Hamlin for the checkered flag at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The win gave Kahne the 12th spot in the Chase and his 14th victory of his career.

"We've been pretty tough all year, but we just haven't finished 'em off a lot of the times," Kahne said. "From here on out, we need some more top 10s and top fives the rest of the way. It doesn't get us in the Chase yet, but it does help with a win today."

Kahne capitalized on the miscommunication between Hamlin and his crew chief Darian Grubb who wanted to change all his tires late.

"Darian asked me how much of the tires I felt I'd used up. I felt like I had used up a substantial amount," he said. "(I said) give me tires and no adjustments. He thought I meant four tires. Nothing's a given. Even though it looked like we had one in the bag if we took two tires, you never know."

Clint Bowyer finished in third.

"Obviously he has proven the ability to guide a team to a championship and we are excited to have him working with Denny toward achieving that goal here at Joe Gibbs Racing."

Stewart Hires New Crew Chief

Jerry Markland/Getty Images for NASCAR (CHARLOTTE, N.C.) -- Tony Stewart, the 2011 Sprint Cup champion has added Steve Addington as his new crew chief for next season.

Stewart had told his former crew chief Darian Grubb midway through the Chase that he would not be back in 2012.

"Darian was a very important part of the success we've had at Stewart-Haas Racing," Stewart said in the statement. "I'm very proud of everything he helped accomplish, especially this year when we all rallied to win the championship."

Addington was the crew chief for Kurt Busch, but told Penske Racing that he would not be returning last week.

"My comfort level with him is already strong," Stewart said. "He balances the technical part of our sport with the real-world experiences we get at the track, and that will allow for a smooth transition as we prepare to defend our title in 2012."
