Floyd Mayweather Jr. Defeats Robert Guerrero

Al Bello/Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Robert Guerrero with a unanimous 12-round decision Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden arena in Las Vegas to retain his WBC welterweight championship. All three judges scored the fight 117-111.

In the first of a six-fight deal with Showtime, the 36-year-old Mayweather outpunched Guerrero, 195 to 113. The eight-time world champion methodically went after Guerrero, landing punches then quickly moving out of the way.

“It’s been a rollercoaster ride,” Mayweather said after the bout. “For 17 years to be at the top, I’m blessed. Without the fans and the media, I wouldn’t be where I am at, I’m thankful. I’m going to continue to work hard. I got five more bouts and then I call it quits.”

With the victory, Mayweather improves to 44-0 while Guerrero falls to 31-2-1.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Released from Jail

FREDERIC J. BROWN/AFP/GettyImages(LAS VEGAS) -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. was released from a Las Vegas jail on Friday after serving two months of a three-month sentence in a misdemeanor domestic battery case.

Boxing fans may still be hoping to see a Manny Pacquiao - Mayweather Jr. fight, but it will no longer be for the WBO welterweight title after Timothy Bradley Jr. took the title on June 9.

Still, while in prison Mayweather's lawyers and physician said jail food and water didn't meet Mayweather's dietary needs, and lack of exercise space in a cramped cell of fewer than 98 square feet threatened his health and fitness. Fans wonder if his time served severely affected his health.

"Thanks for all the support and God Bless to everyone who wrote," Mayweather Jr. wrote on his Twitter account on Friday.

Police say Mayweather was kept separate for his protection from the other 3,200 inmates in the downtown Las Vegas facility.

Promoters for Pacquiao are planning a fight Nov. 10 at the MGM Grand Garden arena in Las Vegas, Athletic Commission executive Keith Kizer said on Friday. No opponent has been announced just yet.

Mayweather's Lawyers Argue His Jail Sentence is Poor for His Health

Ethan Miller/Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) -- On June 1, boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. started serving a 87-day jail sentence, but his lawyers are trying to make that experience as accommodating as possible. They are arguing that his incarceration is causing his health to rapidly deteriorate and could threaten his career.

A Las Vegas judge said she'll decide sometime this week whether or not to ease his jail conditions or place him under house arrest for the remaining duration of his sentence.

Mayweather pleaded guilty back in December to misdemeanor domestic battery and no contest to two harassment charges stemming from an attack on his ex-girlfriend.

"I'm not looking for special treatment for Floyd Mayweather," Mayweather's lawyer, Richard Wright said. "I'm looking for fair treatment."

Mayweather's representatives are concerned over his physical conditioning while in jail. His personal physician, Dr. Robert Voy, estimated Mayweather is consuming less than 800 calories per game, a drop in his usual 3,000-4,000 calorie diet. Voy also claims that he isn't drinking enough water because he isn't allowed bottled water and usually doesn't drink tap water.

He also is only allowed up to one hour a day total to workout in the jails recreational area. In an affidavit, Voy wrote the he fears for not only Mayweather's physical health, but mental health as well.

Floyd Mayweather Beats Miguel Cotto By Unanimous Decision

Ethan Miller/Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) -- It wasn't easy, but Floyd Mayweather proved once again why he's considered by many the top fighter in the sport of boxing. After 12 rounds of action, Mayweather topped Miguel Cotto after two judges scored the fight 117-111 and the third scored it 118-110.

Mayweather competed in one the toughest fight of his career. He even found himself bruised and with a bloody nose at one point, but after a strong 12th round, Mayweather sealed the victory to keep his career record blemish free. He has yet to lose a fight during his 16-year pro career.

"He's a tough competitor," Mayweather said of his opponent. "He came to fight; he didn't come to just survive. I dug down and fought him back."

Mayweather was guaranteed a record $32 million and Cotto made him fight for it. Cotto on the other hand, made $8 million, which was his biggest guaranteed purse of his career.

ESPN.com showed that Mayweather landed 179 out of 687 punches to 105 out of 506 to Cotto.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Thinks Race Is the Reason For 'Linsanity'

Ethan Miller/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin's recent high level of play has inspired the latest NBA craze: "Linsanity." After being an under-the-radar player in the NBA to start his career, Lin has revitalized his new team, the Knicks, by averaging nearly 27 points per game over the last five games. However, boxer Floyd Mayweather think "Linsanity" is the result of Lin being Asian.

"Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise," Mayweather said on his Twitter account on Monday.

Lin is the first American-born player of Taiwanese or Chinese descendant to play in the NBA. He is also the first player in NBA history to have at least 20 points and seven assists in each of his first career four starts. In his first four career starts, Lin has scored 109 points, which is the most by any player since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976.

The Knicks have won all five games Lin has started, after previously struggling to remain in the playoff hunt.

Mayweather Jr. Calls Out Manny Pacquiao

ESPN2 Friday Night Fights(NEW YORK) --  If there was ever a question who Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants to fight on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, he made it even clearer on Tuesday.

On his personal Twitter account, Mayweather Jr. tweeted: "Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5 and give the world what they want to see," read Mayweather's first tweet.

Then he followed with: "My Jail Sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk." He was referencing his sentence from his guilty plea on a reduced battery domestic violence charge and no contest to two harassment charges, stemming from a fight with his ex-girlfriend in front of their two children.

Pacquiao did not respond but his promoter, Top Rank’s Bob Arum, told the Los Angeles Times that May 5 doesn’t work.

"June 9 is perfect," Arum told The Times from the Philippines, where he is meeting with Pacquiao to talk about his next opponent. "May 5 is out, that's impossible."

Mayweather Jr. is scheduled to begin serving his 87-day sentence starting June 1.

Mayweather's Jail Time Delayed

ESPN2 Friday Night Fights(LAS VEGAS) --  Floyd Mayweather Jr. will get a chance to fight at least one more time before his 90-day jail sentence begins on June 1st.

On Friday, a judge in Las Vegas granted Mayweather Jr. the permission to fight on Cinco de Mayo against an as-yet unnamed opponent.  The ruling by Justice of the Peace Melissa Sargosa came after she was swayed by the last-minute pleas by Mayweather’s lawyer, Richard Wright.

Wright had told the judge that Mayweather’s May 5th pay-per-view fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas would boost business to the community at more than $100 billion.

He also included, that Mayweather was not trying to avoid his sentence, which came after he attacked his ex-girlfriend while two of their children watched in September 2010.

Is a Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight Finally in the Works?

JOHN GURZINSKI/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The dream boxing match-up between WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather and WBO champion Manny Pacquiao could actually take place.

Boxing advisor Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com that Mayweather is eyeing his next fight to take place on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. While Mayweather's opponent has yet to be confirmed, Ellerbe gave boxing fans a pretty good idea as to who it might be.

"We're looking to make the biggest fight possible and everyone knows what that fight is, the little fella."

Ellerbe was likely talking about the short-statured Pacquiao. The fighter and Mayweather are considered the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport of boxing, and fight fans have been craving this dream match-up for years. The two have tried to make this happen before, but nothing ever came to fruition.
