Rockets Welcome Aaron Brooks Back to Houston

Sacramento Kings/NBA(HOUSTON) -- The Houston Rockets signed free agent guard Aaron Brooks on Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Rockets originally selected Brooks with the 26th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. He spent his first three-and-a-half seasons in Houston, where he averaged 12.8 points and 3.6 assists in 247 games.

His most productive year came in the 2009-10 season when he won the NBA Most Improved Player Award after averaging career highs of 19.6 points and 5.3 assists.

The Rockets dealt Brooks to the Suns in February 2011 for guard Goran Dragic. He would later go on to play in China and for the Sacramento Kings.

To make room for Brooks on the roster, the Rockets waived forward Tyler Honeycutt.

Rockets Welcome Jeremy Lin to Houston

New York Knicks/NBA(HOUSTON) -- The Rockets welcomed Jeremy Lin to Houston on Thursday. The 23-year-old point guard signed a three-year, $25 million offer sheet with the Rockets earlier this month, which the New York Knicks declined to match.

“It’s been an unbelievable ride,” Lin said. “Just a lot of things I didn’t expect to happen in terms of the way last season went. I still have to kind of remind myself that this is all actually happening sometimes.”

Lin was with the Rockets last December, but was waived because Houston already had guards Goran Dragic and Kyle Lowry. The Knicks claimed him off of waivers and began using him when the team sputtered to an 8-15 record. From there, he led New York to seven straight victories and the Big Apple caught “Linsanity.”

Sources: Dragic Headed Back to Phoenix

Houston Rockets/NBA(NEW YORK) -- Goran Dragic didn't leave Phoenix for long. After playing a little more than a season with the Houston Rockets, Dragic has agreed to sign a four-year, $34 million deal to head back to the Phoenix Suns, sources have told ESPN.

The deal will not be official until July 11, the first day contracts can be signed.

The news came shortly after it was announced point guard Steve Nash was heading to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dragic played most of three seasons with the Suns. For his career, the former second round pick from Slovenia, has played a backup role.

Last season, Dragic averaged 11.7 points and 5.3 assists per game.

David Stern Vetoes Trade that Would Send Paul to the Lakers

National Basketball Association(NEW YORK) -- The NBA lockout may be over, but merely hours after the new collective bargaining agreement was ratified, the NBA finds itself in another controversy. NBA Commissioner David Stern vetoed a trade that would have sent point guard Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a proposed three-team trade, the Lakers would acquire Paul, the Houston Rockets would acquire Pau Gasol, and the New Orleans Hornets would receive Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic and a 2012 first round draft pick.

While that trade appears to be a win for all involved parties, the NBA didn't think so. Stern vetoed the trade because he claimed it was a bad basketball move for the Hornets. Apparently the small market owners were upset that another superstar player would be joining a large market franchise -- which is part of why the lockout happened in the first place. Because the NBA owns the Hornets, they are arguably allowed to do this.

Paul, who is a free agent at the end of the season, let it be known that he would not sign an extension with the team and would pursue other teams in free agency. In an effort to at least get something in return for Paul, the team and general manger Dell Demps worked tirelessly to get fair value for the all-star, but the NBA didnt' see it that way.

Paul is expected to take legal action against the NBA.
