Hal Steinbrenner Concerned About A-Rod

DON EMMERT/AFP/Getty Images(TAMPA, Fla.) -- Count New York Yankees general managing partner Hal Steinbrenner as among those concerned about third baseman Alex Rodriguez.

Among reports of Rodriguez's continuing performance enhancing drug use, Steinbrenner voiced his worries and said the situtation is "a concern, but it's out of our hands."

The Miami New Times reported last month that Rodriguez bought human growth hormone in the last couple of years from a now-closed clinic in Miami called Biogenesis of America LLC.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez will be out of action for the first half of the season while recovering from hip surgery. The Yankees signed former Red Sox Kevin Youkilis to help fill the void, and Steinbrenner is optismistic he can help out.

"I've always liked Kevin," Steinbrenner said. "He always seemed like a good leader, a hard worker and a very enthusiastic -- loves the game -- kind of guy. And that's the kind of guy we want."

Hal Steinbrenner: Yankees Not for Sale

Mike Stobe/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The New York Yankees were reportedly up for sale for potentially as much as $3 billion, according to the New York Daily News Thursday.

Still, Yankees part-owner Hal Steinbrenner denied those rumors.

"I just learned of the Daily News story," Steinbrenner said in a statement Thursday.  "It is pure fiction.  The Yankees are not for sale.  I expect that the Yankees will be in my family for many years to come."

Hal's father, the late George Steinbrenner purchased the club for $8.8 million in 1973 and the Steinbrenner family has brought seven World Series titles to New York since.

Last year, according to Forbes, the New York Yankees were the third-most valuable sports franchise.
