Pacers Vanquish Magic 105-87, Move onto Next Round

Gregory Shamus/Getty Images(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Pacers received 25 points from forward Danny Granger as they conquered the Orlando Magic 105-87, winning their first round playoff series in five games.

The Pacers hadn't won a playoff series since 2005, and no player on the current roster has won a playoff series as a Pacer.

"I'm just so happy for our fans," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. "They've endured a lot those years when we struggled. To finally see us come back and have a winning team again and somebody that has a chance to do something special this year. That's what they deserve. Pacers basketball is back."

The Magic lead 71-69 going into the fourth quarter, but the Pacers outscored them 36-16 the rest of the way.

The Pacers will now face the winner of the Miami Heat-New York Knicks series. The Heat currently lead that series 3-1.

Magic Hands the Bulls A Rare Home Defeat

Christian Petersen/Getty Images(CHICAGO) -- Coming off a loss to the low ranked Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday, the Orlando Magic were determined to prove that they are among the Eastern Conference's best teams as they took on Eastern Conference leader Chicago Bulls. Even though the Bulls had the second-best home record in the East, the Magic were able to defeat Chicago 99-94.

As usual, Magic All-Star center Dwight Howard led the way for Orlando as he scored 29 points, pulled down 18 rebounds and blocked three shots. Howard, along with Hedo Turkoglu, Ryan Anderson, and Jason Richardson all scored in double figures while Jameer Nelson and J.J. Reddick added nine points of their own.

"We stepped up tonight and everybody played great," Howard said after the game. "I think it was our defense that got us the early lead in the game. We forced a couple turnovers and we were able to run and get easy buckets."

With the win, the Magic improved to 26-16 and padded their lead over the Philadelphia 76ers for the third seed in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Bulls fell to 33-9, but still hold the top seed in the East.
