Draft Prospect La'el Collins Will Sit Out Until 2016 If Not Drafted Friday

ThinkStock

(CHICAGO) -- Draft prospect La'el Collins has stated he will sit out the 2015 season and not sign a contract with a pro team if he is not selected in the second or third round of Friday's NFL draft. The announcement was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rappaport.

Collins, who played at LSU and is considered a first round talent, has been taken off the draft board of many teams after the investigation surrounding the alleged murder of a pregnant woman with whom he is believed to have had a relationship. Collins will be brought in for questioning Monday, but is not considered a suspect.

After the police investigation was announced and teams began to take Collins name off of their draft board, his agent attempted to have Collins removed from the draft and entered into the supplemental draft.  The NFL rejected the request.

Last year with LSU Collins was a first-team All-SEC selection and second team All-American.

Report: Prospect Collins Failed Multiple Drug Tests At LSU

Jonathan Newton/The Washington Post via Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Just days before the NFL draft, reports have surfaced that LSU defensive back Jalen Collins has "multiple failed" drug tests while enrolled at the university, according to NFL Network.

Collins played in all 13 games for LSU this past season snagging one interception and racking up 38 tackles.

After running a 4.5 40-yard dash at the combine, it was discovered that he had an incomplete Jones fracture in his fifth metatarsal in his right foot. Collins underwent surgery soon after to correct the break.

Collins was projected to be a late first to early second round pick before the report.

LSU Running Back Jeremy Hill to Enter the NFL Draft

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(BATON ROUGE, La.) --  LSU running back Jeremy Hill announced Monday that will enter the 2014 NFL draft and not return for his junior season.

"I am a Tiger for life. I will forever be grateful to my LSU fans, friends, coaches and family. This decision has been very difficult for me," Hill posted on his Twitter account before announcing his decision.

Hill is a draft-eligible sophomore who rushed for 1,041 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2013 for the Tigers.  He rushed for a career-high 216 yards and two touchdowns in LSU's win over Iowa in the Outback Bowl.

He had his college career delayed one season due to criminal charges stemming from a relationship with a girl at his high school, which resulted in a misdemeanor plea and two years' probation.

The Baton Rouge native's departure opens the door for Leonard Fournette to compete for the starting job in 2014.  Fournette is a top running back prospect who recently committed to the Tigers.

No. 17 LSU Rallies To Top Arkansas 31-27

ThinkStock(BATON ROUGE, LA.) --  Anthony Jennings hit Travis Dural with a 49-yard touchdown pass with 1:15 remaining, and No. 17 LSU rallied to defeat Arkansas 31-27 on Friday.

Jennings was playing in place of an injured Zach Mettenberger.  The senior quarterback left the game in the fourth quarter with a left knee injury and did not return.

The freshman responded in a big way, leading the Tigers (9-3) on a 99-yard touchdown drive in the final three minutes.

"I was calm and relaxed because I knew my teammates around me had my back," Jennings said. "I'll always remember this because this is my first significant time playing and I executed. I couldn't do it by myself, obviously."

Razorbacks quarterback Brandon Allen tossed a pair of touchdown passes to tight end Hunter Henry, but it wasn't enough to keep the Tigers at bay.

Arkansas (3-9) wrapped up its 2013 season with a school record nine-straight losses.  They also went 0-8 in SEC play.

"I'm numb. I'm frustrated and wanted to have some good feelings heading into the offseason," Bielema said. "I just wanted to give these seniors that Golden Boot trophy and see them run across the field. I wanted to see them celebrate. I wanted our guys to taste it."
