Falcao Joins Manchester United on Loan

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Striker Radamel Falcao has joined Manchester United on a season long loan from Monaco.

United will reportedly pay Monaco between five and six million pounds for the striker and have an option to buy Falcao at the end of the loan period.

The transfer required an extension past the deadline, allowed by Premier League rules when all three parties are committed to finalizing the deal.

Despite an injury-shortened 2013-14 season, Falcao scored nine goals in 17 games for Monaco. The injury also kept him out of the World Cup for his native Colombia. Prior to his season with Monaco, Falcao scored a combined 52 goals in two years with Atletico Madrid.

Manchester City Wins English Premier League Title

Michael Dodge/Getty Images(MANCHESTER, England) -- Manchester City took home the English Premier League title for the second time in three seasons after a 2-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday.

Samir Nasri got the first goal of the game six minutes before the break and Vincent Kompany gave Manchester City a comfortable 2-0 lead 49 minutes in.

In 2012, the title came down to a last-minute-of-the-last-game goal against Manchester United.

"You can't repeat what happened last time," City goalkeeper Joe Hart said. "This year, we've really come on strong at the end when we needed to."

The win marked the fourth time in City's 134-year history that fans could celebrate a league title.

City could have settled for a draw to wrap up the title, but did not have to worry about that after the win.
