Mike Krzyzewski Glad to Be Back in Indy

Sara D. Davis/Getty Images(INDIANAPOLIS) -- Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski is happy to be back in Indianapolis and in the Final Four.

Krzyzewski won his first national title in Indianapolis in 1991 and remembers it well.

"I still think Indianapolis puts it on the best," Krzyzewski said on Thursday. "It's remarkable how beautiful it is here and it's as good as it gets."

"You have to be lucky," Krzyzewski said of getting to another Final Four. "It's always been enjoyable, this would never get old."

Krzyzewski has a lot of respect for the coaches he's up against this year, including Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo.

"Tom and I are great friends," the 12-time National Coach of the Year said. "I love that and I love our relationship."

Krzyzewski is seeking his fifth national title during his time with the Blue Devils.

(7) Michigan State Upsets (2) Virginia

Mitchell Layton/Getty Images(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) -- Behind Travis Trice's 23 points, the Michigan State Spartans knocked second-seed Virginia out of the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive year, winning 60-54.

Branden Dawson added 15 points and nine rebounds for the seventh-seeded Spartans, who advanced to the Sweet 16 for the seventh time in the past eight seasons under head coach Tom Izzo. The Spartans will play the winner of the Oklahoma-Dayton game in Syracuse on Friday.

The Spartans stole a page from last year's regional semifinal win, limiting the Cavaliers to 29.8 percent shooting. Virginia finished 2-of-17 from 3-point range.

The Cavaliers finished with their second straight 30-win season which is a school record, however they fell earlier than expected in the NCAA tournament despite spending most of the season ranked in the top five in the country.

(7) Michigan State Holds Off (10) Georgia

Mitchell Layton/Getty Images(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) --  Denzel Valentine scored 16 points and went 6-for-6 at the free throw line in the final 30 seconds to help Michigan State beat Georgia 70-63 on Friday in the NCAA Tournament's round of 64.

Travis Trice scored 15 points and Branden Dawson had a strong second half for the Spartans (24-11), who answered a push from the Bulldogs with a poised run to take back control of the game.

Valentine's free throws were critical as Georgia (21-12) rallied to make it a one-possession game in a finish that at one point had Spartans longtime coach Tom Izzo turning and punching the scorer's table in fury.

Still, Michigan State did enough to hang on, showing at least glimpses of the experience from playing in 18 straight NCAA Tournaments.

Michigan State will take on (2) Virginia or (15) Belmont in the Round of 32.

Valentine Saves the Day for Michigan State

Mitchell Layton(EAST LANSING, Mich.) -- It truly was a happy Valentine's Day for Michigan State as Spartans guard Denzel Valentine sank the game-winning 3-pointer against Ohio State in a 59-56 victory.

Valentine knocked down the shot with 3.2 seconds left in the contest to cap a comeback as MSU rallied from a nine-point deficit.

"I was in the corner, I didn't know it was going to come to me," Valentine said after the win. "That was just a random play, but as soon as I got it I was like 'I gotta hit this shot man,' we been struggling this year so that all went through my head believe it or not when I shot it."

The junior guard wound up scoring 17 points for Michigan State, making 5 of 9 from the 3-point line.

Senior forward Branden Dawson chipped in with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Buckeyes freshman sensation D'Angelo Russell struggled from the floor on Saturday. He scored 10 points on 4 of 13 shooting along with five rebounds and six assists.

MSU Defensive Lineman Shilique Calhoun will Return for Senior Season

Football Texture/iStockPhoto(EAST LANSING, Mich.) -- Despite the chance to be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, Michigan State defensive lineman Shilique Calhoun has decided to return for his senior season.

"I'm going to take my last hoorah, come out and have a great season," he said. "With the talent that we have on this team, I know that we can go far. I want to actually be a part of that team that takes us to the national championship."

According to ESPN NFL Draft Insider Mel Kiper Jr., Calhoun was the 20th ranked prospect.

In 2014, Calhoun recorded 28 tackles to go along with 8.0 sacks.

Calhoun admitted that seeing Ohio State and Oregon in the Championship Game was also a motivating factor for him to return. The Spartans were beaten by both the Buckeyes and Ducks in the regular season.

"As I watch the College Football Playoff play out and I see the two teams that are in the national championship are the two teams we lost to, it just shows that we're inches away from being in that game," Calhoun said.

Quarterback Connor Cook has also decided to return to school.

Barrett Leads (14) Buckeyes Past (8) Michigan State

Kirk Irwin/Getty Images(EAST LANSING, Mich.) -- A 21-point second quarter helped the 14th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes to a 49-37 win over Big 10 rival Michigan State on Saturday night. Quarterback J.T. Barrett accounted for five touchdowns, three passing and two rushing, as the Buckeyes upset the 8th-rated Spartans.

After Michigan State (7-2) went up 7-0 early, Barrett capped off a 4-play, 71-yard drive with a five yard touchdown run to knot the score. He would do the same early in the second quarter, rushing in from one yard out to make it a 14-14 contest. The Spartans would eventually regain the lead on Jeremy Langford's touchdown run, but Barrett connected with Michael Thomas on a 79-yard scoring pass on the following play. The Buckeyes (8-1) would get another big play before the half when Barrett found Devin Smith for a 44-yard touchdown strike, giving Ohio State a 28-21 lead at halftime.

The second half was more of the same as the Buckeyes offense rolled over one of the top defenses in the country. After a Michigan State field goal cut the deficit to 28-24, Ohio State scored 14 unanswered points to put the game out of reach. Although the Spartans were able to get a quick touchdown, cutting the lead to 42-31, the Buckeyes marched right down the field for another score just two minutes later.

With the win, Ohio State avenges a loss to the Spartans in last year's Big 10 Championship Game while also re-affirming their spot as the dominant team in the conference.

Urban Meyer: MSU Stands in the Way of a Big Ten Title

Kirk Irwin/Getty Images(COLUMBUS, Ohio) -- If the Buckeyes are going to take home a Big Ten title this year, they'll have to beat Michigan State on Saturday.

Both teams come into the game at 7-1 and Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer knows his team is in for a long day.

"They're a great team and they stand in the way of a Big Ten championship," Meyer said this week. "They stood in the way last year and we failed.  Does that make them a rival? It makes them in the way of something we all want."

The Spartans have not lost to a conference opponent since November 2012 and Meyer knows his team can get some national respect if they are able to come out of East Lansing with a victory.

"That will be a conversation I have with our players," Meyer continued.  "I think they know that already that this is a game to get the respect that Ohio State deserves and has had in the past."
