Wild Winger Justin Fontaine Out for Game 2 in Chicago

iStockPhoto/Getty Images(CHICAGO) -- Minnesota Wild winger Justin Fontaine will miss Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Chicago Blackhawks due to a lower-body injury.

Fontaine, who scored the game winning goal in the team's Game 6 series-clinching win over the St. Louis Blues Sunday, suffered the injury in the team's Game 1 loss to the Blackhawks.

"It's one of these things that could be day-to-day or it might be a week. I'm not sure," Wild head coach Mike Yeo said.

Yeo says that either Erik Haula, Sean Bergenheim, Jordan Schroeder, or Ryan Carter can fill in for Fontaine.

The 27-year-old Fontaine played in 71 games during the regular season, scoring nine goals while dishing out 22 assists.

Game 2 between the Wild and Blackhawks is Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET in Chicago.

Tarasenko's Hat Trick Lifts Blues Over Wild, Evens Series

Christian Ammann/iStock/Thinkstock(ST. LOUIS) -- Vladimir Tarasenko recorded his first career playoff hat trick to lead the St. Louis Blues past the Minnesota Wild 4-1 Saturday, evening their first-round series at a game apiece.

Tarasenko, who led the team in points and goals during the regular season, didn't have a shot on goal in the team's Game 1 loss.

"We need him to rise up," Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock said. "For us to have success, our best players have to be significant, and that was a big step today.

"We needed more of that and we got it."

Jake Allen made 24 saves and became the first rookie goalie to win a playoff game for the Blues since 1990.

St. Louis jumped to a quick 2-0 lead in the first period with Tarasenko scoring both goals.

The Wild got within one at the beginning of the third period when Marco Scandella scored on a slap shot.

St. Louis put the game out of reach with 1:58 remaining when Patrik Berglund created a turnover and then beat Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk.

The series now shifts to Minnesota. Game 3 will be played Monday night at 8 p.m. ET.
