Beckham Signs Two Year Deal with Galaxy

Quinn Rooney/Getty Images(CARSON, CA) -- David Beckham signed a two year contract to stay with the Los Angeles Galaxy, according to the Galaxy.

It will be announced publicly at a 2 p.m. PT news conference held at the Staples Center.

Beckham, now 36, has spent the last five seasons with the Galaxy, helping the team win a championship last year and raising the profile of soccer in the States nearly singlehandedely--or singlefootedly.

He was courted by clubs in Italy, England, Brazil and the Middle East.

According to sources close to the process, a big part of what lured Beckham back to LA was the teams willingness to let Beckham play for the English Olympic Team if he is chosen.

During his previous five years with the Galaxy, Beckham has scored 11 goals and tallied 31 assists.

Donovan Withdraws from US Roster to Focus on Cup Final

Mike Stobe/Getty Images for New York Red Bulls(PARIS) -- Los Angeles Galaxy striker Landon Donovan has left the U.S. National team ahead of Friday's friendly against France to focus on the MLS Cup Final.  The Galaxy will take on the Houston Dynamo in the final on Nov. 20 at the Home Depot Center, the Galaxy's home field.

"The plan was to have Landon come in for the match against France and then return to the L.A. Galaxy in preparation for MLS Cup, but after further discussion, Landon expressed his desire to stay in Los Angeles," U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann said in a statement. "While my preference was to have Landon with us for this important match, I respect his decision."

The U.S. will also play Slovenia on Nov. 15.
