Predators' Mike Fisher Signs Two-Year Extension

Christian Petersen/Getty Images(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Predators veteran forward Mike Fisher will be staying in Nashville for two more years.  Fisher who was scheduled to become a restricted free agent after next season signed a two-year extension worth $8.4 million on Monday.

Fisher has been with Nashville since February 2011 after coming over in a trade from the Senators. He's happy to be staying in the "Music City".

"Obviously I love being here," said the 32-year-old on Monday. "It has been a great year and a half for me. I love everything about the city. It is just a perfect situation."

There were questions on whether or not Predators general manager David Poile would be able to spend any more money this offseason after matching the Flyers 14-year, $110 million offer sheet for defenseman Shea Weber last month, but Fisher was someone important to the franchise.

"He's a great veteran player and now an assistant captain," said Predators general manager David Poile.  "He won the NHL Foundation award for community service and I think that speaks well of Mike not only as a hockey player but more importantly as a human being."

Coyotes Top Predators 5-3, Lead Series 2-0

Christian Petersen/Getty Images(GLENDALE, Ariz.) -- Four Phoenix Coyotes had a goal and an assist as they defeated the Nashville Predators, 5-3, giving them a 2-0 series lead.

"I would say this is the best 60 minutes we've played in the playoffs, for sure," coach Dave Tippett said. "Just solid throughout."

The Coyotes put up a playoff-high of 39 shots, and every time Nashville would score, the Coyotes would answer.

"When you got all the energy in the building and they get at goal and it seems like the energy goes down a little bit it's nice to respond in a hurry," said Tippett.
