Roscoe Smith Transfers to UNLV

Joe Robbins/Getty Images(NEW YORK) --  Former Connecticut Huskie forward Roscoe Smith is transferring to UNLV.

Smith was a starter on UConn's 2011 Championship team and has two years of eligibility left. He becomes the fifth Huskie with eligibility to leave the team since the end of the season.

UConn is banned from the 2013 season for poor academic performance.

The 6-foot-8 Smith averaged 4.4 points, 3.4 rebounds a game last season.

Big East Changing Men's College Basketball Tournament Format

Joe Robbins/Getty Images)(PONTE VERDE BEACH, Fla) -- The Big East men's basketball tournament is undergoing a makeover. Starting in the 2013-2014 season, the then 18-team league will create a play-in game between the two lowest-seeded teams.

The play-in games would be played on the Monday of the tournament, at a site that has yet to be determined.

All coaches were in favor of every team get into the tournament.

"They've been in support of this for a couple of years," associate commissioner Dan Gavitt said. "As our membership grows, this is a great opportunity to change our format."
