Big Ten Conference Undergoes Divisional Realignment

David Dermer/ Diamond Images/ Getty Images(NEW YORK) --  The Big Ten conference underwent more changes this weekend, with the schools approving new East and West divisions for the 2014 season.

The schools' presidents and chancellors voted unanimously to approve the recommendations during a conference call on Sunday morning.

Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, along with new members Maryland and Rutgers will make up the Big Ten East division.

The Big Ten West will include: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin.

"We thought the geography was a good way to bind the conference together," Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said. "We also wanted to preserve as much tradition as we could, and we do that through the protection of the rivalries. Everybody will play everybody at least once in a four-year cycle, even though it's a bigger conference."

Each team will also have a nine-game conference schedule beginning in 2016.

(9) Wichita State Stuns Ohio State 70-66

Harry How/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) --  The Shockers have shocked the basketball world.

Malcolm Armstead scored 14 points as (9) Wichita State stunned (2) Ohio State 70-66 on Saturday night to advance to their first Final Four since 1965.

Fred Van Fleet added 12 points for the Shockers (30-8), who followed up last week's win over top-ranked Gonzaga with a nail-biting victory over the second-seeded Buckeyes.

"Last year we were watching all this on television," said Cleanthony Early, who scored 12 points for the Shockers. "Now I'm looking at a hat that says `Final Four Atlanta' with my team on it. It's crazy. I still can't believe we're here. You try to expect it, but you expect a lot of things that don't happen. This really happened."

Ohio State (29-8) was led by Deshaun Thomas' 21 points.

Wichita State is the first team from the Missouri Valley Conference to make the Final Four since Larry Bird led Indiana State there in 1979.

Indiana Stuns Michigan For Big Ten Title

Gregory Shamus/Getty Images(ANN ARBOR, MI) --  Cody Zeller scored with 13 seconds left to give No. 2 Indiana a 72-71 victory over No. 7 Michigan on Sunday, as the Hoosiers win the Big Ten championship.

It was the first outright Big Ten title in two decades for the Hoosiers (26-5, 14-4), who were down by five points in the final minute of play.

The Wolverines (25-6, 12-6) could not ice the game from the free-throw line, allowing the Hoosiers to come back and take the lead in the final seconds.

"We've been working on that all year, closing out games," said Zeller.  He led the Hoosiers with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

With the loss, Michigan fell to fourth place in the Big Ten thanks to Sunday victories by Michigan State and Ohio State.  Trey Burke scored 20 points for the Wolverines.

The Hoosiers finish the regular-season with a 5-0 record against top-10 teams.
