Portland Trail Blazers Clinch Playoff Spot

Christopher Trotman/Getty Images(PORTLAND, Or.) -- The Portland Trail Blazers are headed back to the NBA playoffs for the second straight season.

With a 109-86 victory over the Phoenix Suns Monday night, the Trail Blazers clinched a playoff spot and will now seek to claim the Northwest Division title.

Seemingly from the start, Portland set out to dominate the game. The Trail Blazers led by 27 at the end of the third period, and five players finished with double digit points.

"I'm not even sure the last time we even won a division title," said Damian Lillard, who scored 19. "I'm sure it's been tough having OKC around. If any year there was a great opportunity, it's this year. We just need to keep playing, focus on ourselves, and everything will work out like it's supposed to."

Portland currently has a 6.5 game lead over the Thunder for the Northwest Division and the two teams will face off on April 13.

Lakers' Steve Nash Announces His Retirement from the NBA

NBA via Los Angeles Lakers(NEW YORK) -- After 19 brilliant seasons in the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash has announced his retirement.

The 41-year-old Nash announced his retirement in a letter published on The Player's Tribune website.

"The greatest gift has been to be completely immersed in my passion and striving for something I loved so much -- visualizing a ladder, climbing up to my heroes," Nash wrote. "The obsession became my best friend. I talked to her, cherished her, fought with her and got knocked on my ass by her."

"And that is what I'm most thankful for in my career. In my entire life, in some ways. Obviously, I value my kids and my family more than the game, but in some ways having this friend -- this ever-present pursuit -- has made me who I am, taught me and tested me, and given me a mission that feels irreplaceable. I am so thankful. I've learned so many invaluable lessons about myself and about life. And of course I still have so much to learn. Another incredible gift."

A two-time MVP, Nash has all but punched his ticket to the Hall of Fame as he will go down as one of the greatest point guards in NBA history.

Nash retires with career averages of 14.3 points and 8.5 assists per game. His 10,335 assists ranks third all-time in NBA history.

ESPN: Michael Carter-Williams Sent to the Bucks

Jim McIssac/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired guard Michael Carter-Williams from the Philadelphia 76ers in a three-team deal that also sends Brandon Knight to the Phoenix Suns, according to ESPN NBA Insider Marc Stein.

According to Stein, Milwaukee also receives Miles Plumlee and Tyler Ennis, while Philadelphia gets draft picks.

The move is surprising considering the 23-year-old Carter-Williams is the reigning rookie of the year. In 41 games this season he's averaged 15 points, 6.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

"I can't lie I'm shocked," Carter-Williams tweeted. "I love this city thank you for everything. I can honestly say I gave it my all. I wish Philly nothing but the best."

The Suns receive the 23-year-old Knight. He has started 52 games this season, averaging 17.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, while averaging 41% from 3-point land.

ESPN: Celtics Acquire Isaiah Thomas in Deal with Suns

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) -- The Boston Celtics acquired point guard Isaiah Thomas from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for guard Marcus Thornton and the Cleveland Cavaliers' 2016 first-round draft pick, according to ESPN.com's Jeff Goodman.

The Celtics general manager Danny Ainge targeted Thomas when the guard was a free agent over the summer, before the Suns signed him. Phoenix ended up giving Thomas a 4-year, $27 million contract that is worth less money each season.

The 5-foot-9, 26-year-old Thomas is averaging 25.7 minutes, 15.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game this season.

Meanwhile, the Celtics send Thornton and his $8.575 million expiring contract to Phoenix.

The 27-year-old Thornton is averaging 16.4 minutes and 8.9 points per game this season while shooting 42% from 3-point range.

Suns Trade Goran Dragic to Heat

Christopher Trottman/Getty Images(PHOENIX) -- According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, the Phoenix Suns have shipped point guard Goran Dragic to the Miami Heat.

The deal consisted of Dragic and his brother Zoran in return for Danny Granger, Justin Hamilton, and two first-round picks from the Heat. However, it is still unknown if there are other pieces involved in the deal.

Dragic went on the trading block earlier this week because he wasn't happy with the Suns' crowded backcourt, which also featured Isaiah Thomas and Eric Bledsoe.  Now Dragic will have a much bigger role in Miami, pairing him up with superstars Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

Report: Suns Looking to Deal Goran Dragic Before Deadline

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(PHOENIX) -- According to league sources, the Phoenix Suns are looking to move star guard Goran Dragic before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline, after Dragic's representatives informed the team that Dragic will not re-sign with them this summer.

ESPN.com reported last week that the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers were frontrunners to land the 28-year old guard. However, reports also stated that Dragic has little interest in signing a long-term deal with the Rockets.

In a loaded backcourt also featuring Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas, Dragic is averaging 16.2 points and 4.1 assists.  Last season, Dragic averaged 20.3 points and 5.9 assists.
