Delonte West Reinstated by Mavericks

Harry How/Getty Images(DALLAS) -- Dallas Mavericks guard Delonte West's suspension didn't last long.

West, who was suspended Tuesday morning for conduct detrimental to the team, was reinstated Tuesday afternoon after a meeting with Mavericks' president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson and head coach Rick Carlisle.

Sources told ESPNDallas.com that West had been suspended for an outburst he made in the locker room after the Mavs' 123-104 preseason victory over the Houston Rockets Monday.

West, who has been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, has averaged 9.7 points and 3.6 assists a game during his eight-year NBA career.

NASCAR Reinstates Allmendinger

Geoff Burke/Getty Images for NASCAR(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) -- After being suspended for almost a month ago for violating NASCAR's substance-abuse program, driver A.J. Allmendinger was reinstated Tuesday after completing NASCAR's "Road to Recovery Program."

Allmendinger was suspended July 24 for taking the prescription drug Adderall.

"I want to thank everyone for their support through this entire process," Allmendinger said in a prepared statement. "I appreciate that NASCAR created the Road to Recovery program, and am grateful for the opportunity to return to competition."

Allmendinger's suspension resulted in him being released from Penske Racing on August 1. Sam Hornish Jr. has raced Allmendinger's No. 22 car since the suspension.
