Tigers Land David Price in Three-Team Trade

Brian D. Kersey/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The Detroit Tigers waited until the end of Thursday's 4 p.m. ET deadline for non-waiver trades to make the biggest splash of the afternoon.

The Tigers acquired former AL Cy Young Award winner David Price in a three-way trade with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Seattle Mariners.

Detroit sent outfielder Austin Jackson to the Mariners while the Rays received left-hander Drew Smyly from the Tigers and infielder Nick Franklin from Seattle.

The Rays also received infield prospect Willy Adames from the Tigers.

Price joins a Detroit rotation that already features former AL Cy Young winners Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander.  He is eligible to become a free agent after the 2015 season.

"David Price comes over and fills out an extremely strong rotation," Verlander said.

Mariners Trade for Kendrys Morales

Ed Zurga/Getty Images(SEATTLE) -- Kendrys Morales is headed back to Seattle.

The Minnesota Twins traded the switch-hitting Morales to the Seattle Mariners Thursday in exchange for relief pitcher Stephen Pryor.

Morales played for the Mariners in 2013 hitting .277, 23 home runs and 80 RBIs.

"He's a professional hitter," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. "He gives us the opportunity to stretch out our lineup, so to speak. He's a nice fit, switch-hitter, hitting behind Robbie (Cano).

"He gives us options, what we want to do with (Kyle) Seager, where we want to hit him. I like it."

Morales was a free agent last offseason and he rejected a $14.1 million qualifying offer from Seattle.

"We had a lot of dialogue over the winter that just didn't work out," Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said. "We're in position now where wanted to add a bat. That was no secret. When the opportunity arose, we moved forward with it. He's a player we like and a player who is familiar with us. He'll be welcomed with open arms."

The 31-year-old Morales has played eight major league seasons. During that time he's compiled a .277 batting average, with 103 home runs and 363 RBIs.

Angels Walk-Off for 30th Comeback Win

Brian D. Kersey/Getty Images(ANAHEIM, Calif.) -- The Los Angeles Angels scored two runs off former teammate Fernando Rodney to walk-off against Seattle (52-46) for the second time in three days.

The 6-5 victory was the 30th time this season that the Angels (59-38) have come from behind to get a win.

What made the win a little more intriguing was the back-and-forth between the Angels and their old closer. Rodney, who entered the game with one out in the eighth, used his trademark "bow-and-arrow" celebration after Kole Calhoun flew out to end the inning.

That stirred up the LA dugout as Albert Pujols doubled to score Mike Trout and tie the game off of Rodney. The two then traded arrows before Grant Green singled home the winning run, handing Rodney the loss.

"That's his thing," Pujols said of the celebration. "I've known Rodney for 15 years, so we go way back. And every time I see him, I tell him I'm going to do that to him if I get a big hit against him."

Rodney said after the game that he was directing the arrow towards the Angels fans who booed up him upon entering the game. The 12-year veteran spent two seasons with Los Angeles and was just 17-for-28 in save opportunities.

Mariners Hold Off Angels 3-2 in 12 Innings

Rob Carr/Getty Images(ANAHEIM, Calif.) --  It's been just two games since the All-Star break, but the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels have already played a combined 28 innings.

Logan Morrison hit a go-ahead RBI double in the 12th inning as the Mariners held on to beat the Angels 3-2 on Saturday night.  Los Angeles won 3-2 in 16 innings on Friday night.

"I don't think our guys are tired. They're resilient," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. "It's hard to win games at this level regardless of who you're playing. We just happened to be playing the team with the second-best record in baseball.

"It was tough, but just like last night, in about five minutes, we've got to turn the page and get ready for (Sunday)."

Kyle Seager hit a leadoff double in the 12th inning off of Angels reliever Joe Thatcher (0-1). Morrison lined a single to left to drive him in.  Pinch-hitter Justin Smoak added an RBI single to give the Mariners a two-run cushion.

After taking the loss Friday, Dominic Leone (3-2) pitched one-plus inning for the Mariners to earn the victory.  Leone gave up a leadoff home run to David Freese in the bottom of the 12th inning and was pulled from the game.  Charlie Furbush stepped in and recorded the final three outs for the save.
