Moore Nets Late Goal to Give Rangers Game 1 of Conference Final

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Dominic Moore's goal with 2:25 left in regulation gave the New York Rangers a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Every game (13) this postseason for the Rangers has been decided by one goal, and nine of them have been by the score 2-1.

Moore scored the game-winner 30 seconds after leaving the penalty box when Kevin Hayes' shot deflected off his skate and past Lightning goalie Ben Bishop.

The Rangers led 1-0 after the second period, but Ondrej Palat tied the game when he scored a power play goal 6:45 into the third, before Moore won it at the end.

"I think we're just calm out there," Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi said. "We're not nervous. We're like, they tied it up, no big deal. They make a good play on it, make a good shot. We just stick to our game plan. We never deviate from it. I think that's what helps us in the one-goal games."

Derek Stepan scored the Rangers' first goal, and Henrik Lundqvist had 23 saves in the victory.

Game 2 is in New York on Monday night.

Report: Lighting Without Callahan in Game 6

Scott Levy/NHLI via Getty Images(TAMPA BAY) -- The Lightning will be without Ryan Callahan in game six as Tampa Bay seeks to end Montreal's season.

Callahan underwent an emergency appendectomy Monday and will be out indefinitely.

The Lightning are up three-two in the series, though they have lost the past two games to the Canadiens. Tampa Bay lost game four 6-2 and game five 2-1.

Callahan has only three assists in the postseason so far, but was a major offensive force this season contributing 54 points.

According to the Tampa Bay Times:

Callahan didn't practice Monday, with the team saying he first felt abdominal pain during the afternoon. He was admitted to Tampa General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. Callahan was in the emergency room by 9 p.m. and out by 10 p.m., and in stable condition, team spokesman Bill Wickett said.

Canadiens Force Game 6 on Parenteau's Late Goal

Christian Petersen/Getty Images(MONTREAL) -- P.A. Parenteau's goal with 4:07 remaining in regulation gave the Montreal Canadiens the lead for good as they fended off the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 Saturday to force a Game 6 in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

P.K. Subban delivered a pass to Parenteau in the middle of the zone. Parenteau then slapped it over Ben Bishop's glove to help the Canadiens win their second straight.

The Lightning lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.

The Canadiens stormed out of the gates in what was a do-or-die game. Devante Smith-Pelly lasered a shot past Ben Bishop at the 10:59 mark of the first period to make it 1-0.

The game stayed scoreless all the way until the 10:33 mark of the third when Steven Stamkos slung a rebound shot past Carey Price to tie the game before Parenteau scored the game-winner.

Game 6 is Tuesday night in Tampa.

Lightning Strike Down Wings in Game 7

A.J. Messier/NHLI via Getty Images(TAMPA, Fla.) -- The Tampa Bay Lightning knocked off the Detroit Red Wings 2-0 in Game 7 of their first round playoff series Wednesday night to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals of the NHL playoffs.

Braydon Coburn ripped a shot over Petr Mrazek's right shoulder three minutes and 58 seconds into the third period to break a scoreless tie; the goal proved to be the eventual series clincher.

Detroit, who held a 3-2 series advantage going into Game 6, outshot the Lightning 31-17, but Ben Bishop couldn't be broken en route to his first career playoff shutout.

Anton Stralman bounced a puck off the boards that went the length of the ice and into the empty net to give Tampa its second goal.

The Lightning, who did not receive a goal from captain Steven Stamkos in the entire series, improve to 4-1 in Game 7s.

Tampa Bay will be in Montreal Friday night for Game 1 of their second round playoff series against the Canadiens.

Lightning Even Series Behind Two Tyler Johnson Goals

Len Redkoles/NHLI via Getty Images(TAMPA, Fla.) -- The Tampa Bay Lightning proved in their playoff game Saturday, why they were the highest scoring team in the NHL during the regular season.

Tyler Johnson scored two of the Lightning's five goals in Tampa Bay's 5-1 dismantling of the Detroit Red Wings. The win evens the best-of-seven playoff series at a game apiece.

Johnson started the scoring just a little over three minutes into the game when he beat Red Wings 23-year-old goalie Petr Mrazek on a power play.

The second period was all Lightning as they netted three more goals, the final coming from Johnson with 38 seconds remaining in the period to put Tampa up 4-0.

Mrazek was pulled after the second period but Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock was not disappointed in his young goaltender.

"I think Pete played pretty good. We gave up some slam dunks to them," Babcock said. "You've got to give your goalie a chance. You can't make those defensive mistakes and then think your goalie's going to make those saves. If you give him a chance to battle, he'll battle."

The series now shifts to Detroit. Game 3 is Wednesday night at Joe Louis Arena at 7 p.m. ET.
