ESPN: Cavs Close To Signing Varejao to 3-Year Extension

NBA Via Cleveland Cavaliers (CLEVELAND) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers are close to signing center Anderson Varejao to a three-year, $30 million extension that would begin at the start of the 2015-16 season, according to

The 32-year-old Varejao has played all of his 10 NBA seasons in Cleveland and is said to be one of LeBron James' "most beloved teammates," according to ESPN NBA Insider Marc Stein.

Varejao will earn $9.7 million this season, the final of his previous six-year, $49 million deal.

For his career, Varejao has averaged 7.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

Chris Neil Signs Three-Year Extension with Ottawa

A.J. Messier/NHLI via Getty Images(OTTAWA, Ontario) -- Winger Chris Neal signed a three-year contract extension with the Ottawa Senators.

The 33-year-old has spent his entire 10-season career in Ottawa.

"I love this city, love the organization and to have the opportunity to play here for another four years," Neil said. "It's unbelievable."

Over his career, Neil has 90 goals, 110 assists and has a franchise-leading 1,861 penalty minutes.

Neil scored 13 goals while dishing out 15 assists last season.

Lightning Give Purcell Three-Year Extension

A.J. Messier/NHLI via Getty Images(TAMPA, Fla.) --  The Tampa Bay Lightning signed winger Teddy Purcell to a three-year, $13.5 contract extension Tuesday.

"I really don't think there is a better fit for me and I still believe I can get better every day," Purcell said to "So I'm looking forward to remaining with the Lightning and taking my game another step."

The 26-year-old Purcell had a career high in goals (26) and assists (41), last season.

Purcell has played for the Lightning since the 2009-10 season when he was traded over from the Los Angeles Kings for center Jeff Halpern and a third round draft pick.
