Bryce Harper Hits 6th HR in 3 Games, This One a Walk-Off

Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- Bryce Harper can not be stopped.

Harper hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Washington Nationals an 8-6 victory over the Atlanta Braves Saturday.

Harper, 22, has now hit six home runs in his last three games, one less than the major league record set by Shawn Green in 2002.

The Nationals (16-15) have won nine of 11.

Washington held a 6-3 lead going into the eighth inning, but the Braves (14-16) rallied scoring three runs in the top of the inning setting the stage for Harper's heroics.

Harper is now leading the National League in home runs (11) and is tied with Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt for second in RBIs (27).

Harper Hits 3 HRs in Nationals' 7-5 Win Over Marlins

iStockphoto(WASHINGTON) – Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper belted three home runs as Washington (14-15) reeled in the Miami Marlins (13-15), 7-5, on Wednesday afternoon.

Harper finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs and five RBIs. Each of his three home runs came off of Marlins starter Tom Koehler (2-3).

Right-hander Max Scherzer (2-3) went seven innings for the Nationals, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits while striking out 10 batters. Closer Drew Storen picked up his eighth save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

Strasburg Exits Game with Shoulder Issue

Norm Hall/Getty Images(WASHINGTON D.C.) -- Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg left Tuesday's game against the Miami Marlins after pitching just three innings; the Nats ended up losing 2-1.

"He's got a little issue under his shoulder blade. Had it last start," Nationals manager Matt Williams said. "Could be an alignment issue, but as he finishes pitches, it grabs him every once in a while. Tonight it got a little bit worse. So we'll have to have the chiropractor look at him."

In the second inning, Strasburg winced after throwing a pitch and was visited by the team trainer, pitching coach Steve McCatty, and Williams. The right-hander stayed in the game, but not for long.

Strasburg allowed two baserunners in the third before retiring Adeiny Hechavarria to end the inning.

"It's something that's just been lingering, and I just felt it more and more," Strasburg said. "I felt like it was something that I felt I could have gone through it, but at this point in the season you just want to get it right and not alter your mechanics too much."

Strasburg (2-3) left for a pinch hitter after allowing two runs and throwing 64 pitches in his shortest outing since a two-inning stint against Miami on Aug. 28, 2013.

Nationals Anthony Rendon Suffers Oblique Strain, Rehab Stint on Hold

Major League Baseball(NEW YORK) -- Just as he was nearing his return to the Majors, Washington Nationals second baseman Anthony Rendon suffered a strained oblique and will have to delay his rehab.

"We're gonna have to slow his progress down a little bit," Nationals manager Matt Williams told reporters. "He's felt it for the last couple days, so we're going to have to sit him a little bit longer and make sure it's OK before he resumes activity. It's just not getting loose for him."

Williams added he is unsure of how long Rendon will be out of action after hoping he was less than a week away from joining the Nationals.

Rendon was playing in his third minor league game at Double-A Harrisburg when the injury happened. The game was part of his rehab from a sprained MCL in his left knee that has kept him off the field since spring training.

The 24-year-old Rendon was an MVP candidate in his second Major League season last year. He batted .279 with 28 home runs and 118 RBIs.
