The Cleveland Cavaliers suffer lopsided loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves as slump continues

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered its most lopsided loss in Minnesota that left players at a loss for words. Cleveland was defeated by the Minnesota Timberwolves 127-99, which left LeBron James telling reporters after the game, "We're just not playing well right now."

James scored a season-low 10 points in the game.

Cleveland trailed 20-4 early in the game, worked its way back to keep the game a little closer, but ultimately could not find a way to overcome the large early deficit. Shots were not falling for Cleveland, as they made just 35 percent of first quarter shots and went 1-for-10 from three point range.

Point guard Isiah Thomas got called for a flagrant foul 2 while attempting to steal the ball from Andrew Wiggins of the Timberwolves and was ejected. He apologized to Wiggins and told reporters afterwards the shots just were not falling for the Cavaliers.

Forward Kevin Love told reporters, simply, "I don't know what tonight was. It was just ugly."

The loss drops Cleveland's record to 3-6 in its past nine games. They sit in third place in the Eastern Conference behind the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors.

The Cavaliers have rallied from midseason slumps over the past three years though. They have faced slumps in each of the past three regular seasons and went on to reach the NBA Finals in all of those years.
