Wild Winger Danny Heatley Out for Season

Andy King/NHLI via Getty Images(ST. PAUL, Minn.) -- Minnesota Wild winger Danny Heatley had surgery on his left shoulder and will miss the remainder of the season, Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher announced Tuesday.

The Wild originally thought Heatley could come back for the playoffs, but Fletcher announced Heatley isn't expected to return until the beginning of the 2013-14 season.
Heatley was injured in a fight at the end of the Wilds' 4-2 loss to San Jose last Wednesday, when he was slashed in the arm by the Sharks' Marc-Edouard Vlasic.

The 32-year-old Heatley has 11 goals and 10 assists in 36 games for the Wild this season.

Minnesota (22-15-2, 46pts) currently holds the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
