Ravens' Ray Lewis Set to Retire after Playoffs

Rob Carr/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis announced on Wednesday that he will be retiring after the 2013 NFL playoffs conclude.

The 13-time Pro Bowler told his team, "this is my last ride.''  The Ravens will host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in the AFC Wild Card game.

Lewis was placed on the injured reserve-designated to return list on Oct. 14 after tearing his right triceps.  The 37-year-old linebacker returned to practice on Dec. 5 and the team added him to the roster in order for him to be eligible for the playoffs.

"Everything that starts has a end, it's just life," said Lewis on Wednesday.  "For me, today, I told my team that this would be my last ride."

Lewis was a part of the franchise's first Super Bowl title in 2000 in which he led a Baltimore defense that set an NFL record for fewest points allowed in a 16-game season.

Packers Ready for Vikings on Saturday

Tom Lynn /Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will meet for the third time this season on Saturday night in the NFC Wild Card round.

The Vikings are coming off a last second game winning field goal by Blair Walsh, which punched the Vikings ticket in against Green Bay in Week 17 and now the two will face each other for the final time at Lambeau Field.

"Single elimination there's 12 teams still playing, we have a chance to move onto the final eight," said Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  "We've got a home game which is our first goal when we start the season.  We can take the first step [toward the Super Bowl] with a win this week."

The Vikings were 3-5 on the road in 2012 and Green Bay got the best of Minnesota in Week 13 at home with a 23-14 victory.

"Both sides are going to be very familiar with each other," said Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder.  "We should expect some different wrinkles."

Kobe Bryant: We're an Old Team

Doug Pensinger/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- The Los Angeles Lakers dropped to 15-16 after their loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on New Year's Day.  Kobe Bryant was then asked what has been the reason for the inconsistency all season long with this team.

"You just saw an old damn team," Bryant said. "I don't know how else to put it to you. We're just slow. You saw a team over there that was just younger and just had fresher legs and just played with more energy, and we were just stuck in the mud. I think individually we all have to figure out how to get ourselves ready each and every game to have a high level of energy. That's all that is."

Bryant, 34, is still leading the league in scoring but saw a 22-year-old Jrue Holiday and a 24-year-old Evan Turner lead Philadelphia to a 103-99 victory.

"What do you want? We just got to figure out how to play when we don't have that energy" Bryant said.  "We got to change things up a little bit defensively. We got to figure out what we want to do offensively, figure out what we want to do on nights when we don't have those legs or have that energy."

The Lakers will have a couple days to rest before taking on their Staple Center brothers, the red-hot Clippers on Friday night.

Urban Meyer Focused on 2013

Kirk Irwin/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- After having the sixth undefeated season in Ohio State football history, the Buckeyes have spent their Bowl season watching everyone else play due to their NCAA sanctions.

The team finished just 6-7 in 2011 and suffered a one-year postseason ban after players took a total of $14,000 in cash and tattoos in exchange for jerseys, rings and other Buckeyes memorabilia.

Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer told ABC Sports Radio Wednesday that it was difficult that his team didn't have a chance to play in a Bowl this season after going 12-0 in 2012.

"It’s tough but at the end of the day you can only control what you can control," said Meyer.  "The fact that we finished undefeated and beat our rivals in the last game, it’s time to move forward and get ready for next year."

As for his former quarterback in Florida, international sensation Tim Tebow, Meyer was asked if he thought the New York Jets handled Tebow the right way.

"I don’t know enough about it other than it didn’t work out,"said Meyer.  "That happens, you got to control what you can control and Tim’s going to have to move on and go get ready to play next year and hopefully get in a system where he can play."

Asked if he would consider one of the current seven vacant NFL jobs if someone reached out to him, Meyer answered, "I’m an Ohio State Buckeye and our focus is on that."

(12) Florida State Cruises Past (15) Northern Illinois in Orange Bowl

Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(MIAMI) -- Seminoles senior fullback Lonnie Pryor rushed for touchdowns of 60 and 37 yards, as 12th ranked Florida State cruised past 15th ranked Northern Illinois (12-2), in the Discover Orange Bowl.

Pryor finished the game with five carries for a 134 yards, and was named the game's MVP.

"I'm just proud of the team...just what we did. We just came out here and played," Pryor said when asked about winning the MVP. "I can't do it without the offensive line...the receivers. Just a great team and it's just a blessing. I'm just proud...I'm just happy...just shocked and happy."

The Seminoles (12-2) were able to hold Northern Illinois' star quarterback Jordan Lynch to under 100 yards rushing for the first time in 12 games. The Huskies quarterback could only gain 43 yards on 23 carries. Despite that, he become the first quarterback in FBS history to throw for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,500 yards in the same season.

Florida State senior quarterback EJ Manuel completed 26 of his 38 passes for 291 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown and became only the second quarterback in FBS history to win four straight bowl games.

Charles Woodson Cleared to Play Saturday

Jeff Gross/Getty Images(GREEN BAY, Wis.) -- Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced Tuesday that defensive back Charles Woodson has been cleared by doctors to play Saturday in the team's wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The eight-time Pro Bowler hasn't played since Week 7 after breaking his collarbone.

"I just think having Charles Woodson back on the field helps our football team," McCarthy said. "I mean, just what he's meant to our defense, his playmaking ability, his ability to make plays at the line of scrimmage. He's extremely productive, so I'm just glad to have him back on the field."

After playing cornerback for the first 14 seasons of his career, Woodson has played mostly at strong safety this season.
