Gov. Haslam Signs Bill to Crack Down on Tattooing of Minors
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- In an effort to crack down on the tattooing of minors, Gov. Bill Haslam signed a bill this week that would make it illegal for anyone to possess tattooing paraphernalia without a license.
The measure unanimously passed the Senate and was approved 86-6 in the House, according to published reports.
Under current Tennessee law, anyone under the age of 18 is not allowed to get a tattoo. A 16-year-old, however, may be tattooed to cover up an existing tattoo, but only if a parent or guardian is present.
