Governor Haslam Announces Signing of Two Bills

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has signed two bills that will bring about changes to the Tennessee Regulatory Authority (TRA) and 21 other licensining programs, commissions, and boards, according to a report in The Chattanoogan.

During his State of the State address, Gov. Haslam said he would be reviewing state boards and commissions, and he believes the new bills will improve the performance of these organizations.  Many of the 200 state organizations that will be affected by the new legislation have independent spending and hiring with little oversight, according to the report.

The governor, lieutenant governor, and secretary of state will now be responsible for hiring the executive director of the TRA.
