Haslam Issues Executive Order to Change State Drug Court Programs

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Gov. Bill Haslam announced Wednesday an executive order to change the management and oversight of state drug court programs, The Chattanoogan reports.

Executive Order No. 12 transfers the drug court programs from the Department of Finance and Administration to the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, which oversees the licensing and funding for Tennesseans in need of substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery support services.

The order, effective July 1, is part of the administration's effort to strengthen government effectiveness and efficiency.
