Report: Tucson School District Not joining Lawsuit Over Ethnic Studies

(TUCSON, Ariz.) -- The Arizona Sun reports the Tucson School District will not join the 11 teachers of its Mexican American studies program in a lawsuit challenging a new state law.  The law was created specifically for the Tucson schools because backers felt the Mexican-American studies program created resentment against whites while segregating students by race.

The district says its program is legal and it would appeal any finding to the contrary.
