(FORT WASHINGTON, Md.) -- A 12-year-old boy is facing a second-degree murder charge in the beating death of a 2-year-old girl in Fort Washington, Md.
Officials said the two-year-old was a foster child staying at a home on the 1800 block of Taylor Avenue, and on Tuesday authorities were called to the home on a report that the toddler had been found unresponsive. Published reports state that efforts were made to revive the girl, and she was then taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced.
Blunt force trauma has been found to be the official cause of death.
