(SILVER SPRING, Md.) -- A bus driver is dead after being crushed by a bus in Silver Spring on Monday afternoon.
The incident happen shortly after 3:30 p.m. at the White Oak Shopping Center. Montgomery County Police say when they arrived on the scene, they found Thomasine Maria Smith pinned between a Metrobus and a concrete wall.
"The preliminary investigation indicates that the bus apparently began to move after the driver had exited the bus. The driver attempted to engage the brake by reaching through the driver’s window before being struck by the bus and pinned against the wall," Montgomery County Police said in a statement.
Smith, 47, was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
