(BRENTWOOD, Md.) -- Four children were seriously burned after being trapped in a blaze Wednesday morning.

Prince George's County firefighters arrived at a home on 40th Ave. around 4 a.m. and rescued the children from the fire. Thirteen-year-old female twins, a four-year-old, and a nine-year-old were taken to a local hospital for burns, while the children's parents were treated for smoke inhalation.

It is unclear at this point what caused the fire. An investigation is currently underway.
