Maryland Man Escapes Injury in Wrong-Way Crash in Indiana
(LAKE COUNTY, Ind.) -- One person was killed and a Maryland man managed to escape injury in a wrong-way crash in Indiana early Friday morning.
The crash reportedly happened around 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 80 in Lake County, Ind. According to a news release from Indiana State Police, a pickup truck was traveling west on the eastbound side of I-80 near mile marker 11.8 when it crashed head-on into a semi truck which was headed east and driven by Kevin J. Windsor, 41, of Lothian, Md.
Officials said the driver of the pickup truck, Timothy J. Leib, 35 of Hobart, Ind., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Indiana State Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, however, toxicology is pending.
